I was asked to display my car at a Memorial Day festival at the VA hospital. There were about 60 vintage vehicles and the Pantera was the 'hot ticket'. All was well until I started to leave. It started right up with the best roar of the crowd then the alternator belt started to squeal. Damn!! It squealed at all speeds until about a mile from home and just as suddenly as it started, it quit. Voltmeter showed 12.5 to 14.5 volts and I couldn't get it to squeal again. My friends will go into it this weekend and we'll change belts and check alt bearings. It was real embarrising to have the car remembered for the squealling departure.
