Replacement Tires

So is the 295 HR50-15 the best size?
What about the BF Goodrich 295-50-15

the 295/50-15 tires are for the rear 10" wide 15" Campy wheels.

What size wheels do you have front and rear?

I am using the stock wheels. I had an owner tell me he used BF Goodrich 205/60 R15 in the front and 225/60 R15 in the rear. I'm leaning torwards this tire because it looks so much like the Arriva. Are these the correct sizes that replace the H60's ?

The 295/50-15 size is also compatible with the rear 8" wide 15" Campy wheels, but check the tire manufacturer's specs. Toyo and BFG used to list 8" wide rims as within the spec for this size.

Those sizes are not the correct sizes to replace the stock H60's. Stock Pantera tire sizes were/are:
Front: C60V-15's (23.5" diameter) -- Modern equivalent: 215/60-15 (from Tirerack conversion chart)
Rear : H60V-15's (26.5" diameter) -- Modern equivalent: 255/60-15 (from Tirerack conversion chart)

I've posted extensively on tire sizes in the past (you may be able to search for my old posts to find some charts), but the stock sized Arriva's look TOO SKINNY on the back end of the Pantera! The 295/50-15 tire is wider and much more pleasing aesthetically, and has an overall diameter of 26.7" resulting in a near perfect speedometer reading.

I think Coker Tire is making the Michelin tires that were standard on the Pre Ls. Not correct for your L model. But it will give you a more period correct appearance. Only us Pantera guys will know they are not correct for a 73.

Arrivas do show up once in a while. But I would not want to drive on them. They would be fine for display only. If you want Arrivas you might want to talk Adams Hudson who I am pretty sure has some squirreled away.

My question would be what do you want to do with the car? If it will be driven how it's meant to be driven then consider the performance benefits of modern rubber rather than the aesthetic looks.

As posted in previous tire discussion the Toyo Proxes are a great tire in 15", a lot of the GT40 replica guys are using them. The BFG are noted to generally have more sidewall movement.

I'm not looking for a set of Arrivas, just a modern tire. The car will not be driven hard. Its getting a bunch of work done as it has not been run in a while. It will surely need tires, I'm not trusting the 35 year old Arrivas.

FWIW, it's getting difficult to find the Toyo ST tires in 295/50-15. Start looking NOW and order as soon as you find them.

Discount Tires 2 Go, Tiresavings.com, and hubcap-tire-wheel.com are all unable to get the now-discontinued toyo 295-50-15....anyone know another place that might have a few lying around?

I've decided to follow Garths advice and get the 215-60/15's for the front and the 295-50/15'S for the rear. I have to get them by next week as the car is almost done. I run it on Tire Rack and sure enough..... the rears are on national back order. DAMMMMMMMMMMM !!!!!!

Which means they may never get anymore now they are discontinued. I'd give them a call to verify.

This may be a little late, but the 215/60-15 is merely a modern equivalent of the original size. I actually recommend a 225/50-15 on the front to complement the 295/50-15 on the rear.

What did you end up getting?

Well here is the current problem. BFGoodrich has haulted production of the 295 50/15, and I cant find any. I was told they would start again in June/July, but that doesnt do me much good now. Any ideas on other rear tire sizes ?
