Roll Bar construction

I love the pictures and thanks for posting.

I had a Hall bar in the car and finally got tired of banging into it and took it out. Sold it to lastpushbutton.

Not that you would change now and don't consider this as a criticism but did you consider installing the main hoop on the other side of the bulkhead in the engine compartment? If I ever have it all to do again that is where mine is going, with the rearward ties to the rear suspension just like yours and maybe tubes through the rocker panels all the way to the wheel wells.

Yea actually I did. I can't exactly remember why I did not but I think I was just starting to run out of room. I built the aluminum gas tank on the right side of the car and if I remember I just didn't want to loose any more capacity.

Fair enough. I remember that I got scared off Halls engine compartment roll bar because it was described as having to modify the fuel tank slightly.

When I talked to them about it they said the modification was taking a hammer and denting it slightly to clear the bar.

I'm pretty sure that Bob at Precision Proformance is the one that builds it. Next time I need to pull the engine I'm going to consider it again.

If it works for you I would like to see photos. I had some other things going on which was just making it too hard for me to get my head around. I do like the idea though.

I think everyone should have an extra engine to swap back n forth now and then right?

I can't remember but did you weld up all the seams in your car also?

Im not putting a cage in but thought I could gain a far amount of rigidity with stitch welding up all the seams.
My car has some pretty bad gaps where the pieces werent very tight together when they were spot welded. Especially where the rear frame meets the firewall.

Brooke I didn't weld too many seems. Which ones in particular? I did quite a bit of work on the channels under the car. The front ones I replaces the metal and reinforced them with some vertical pieces so I could jack on them. I cleaned tsome things like the bottom back of the frame rail with an additional plate so I could jack there.

When you get this far into the car you can picture the assembly process, the jigs and such. The welds are pretty rough. Some times I wonder if they built this with a a stick welder.
