In the process of restoring/up-grading the cooling tubes, I see a sheet metal bracket without any undercoating on it, reinforcing the steering rack U-brackets. Also the U-brackets don't have any undercoating on them either. It appears that the U-brackets have been disturbed/moved slightly. A shinny brass bushing on only one side is obvious too.
Is this the bump steering modification and does is it seem complete?

Thanks.

That unpainted bracket is one of Bill Stropps' proudest efforts. As you know, the early Panteras imported to the US had some 50 lbs of reinforcements added, many designed by the team that went out and retrofitted the early cars on Ford's nickel.. That bracket is one of them. The undercoater probably figured there was no need to shoot gunk up on that area. My car has none up in that area.
The bumpsteering correction is simply a strap that fits under the rack at both mounting points, between the rack and trunk floor. It lower the rack slightly (requires longer-than-stock bolts) and also means the alignment needs to be re-done. The bump-steer spacer depends on the spring spacers being removed, too.
