I bought a sugar scoop for my rear deck. How far back from the roof should I mount it? What is it supposed to do anyway?

Thanks HammerDoug! Can you find me a pic. I only want to drill 4 holes. Should it be below the roof line? How far back from the leading edge of the deck? I'm still not sure if it is right...But it will be my choice.... same as with or without..does any body really car what somone else does? I want it to keep my decklid clean when I ride on dirt roads..lol

Should you choose a different route, 1.750" from the edge of the decklid to the center of the first hole.
I believe it is a 5/16" hole on the exterior and you need a hole saw on the inside big enough to get a socket through to tighten the 1/2" nut.
My car is a 73. It was original from 'da faxtree like dat.

Bill ...my 79 GTS has the original sugar scoop on it ..matter of fact the underside still has the number 9138 written with crayon ..so if you want I will measure and take a pic for you...say the word ??

It is painted as of today. Doug, Im afraid my studs my be differnt. Is the a gap between the top edge of the deck and the scoop? Will it make the car have less roof clerence if I have to go under a low obstroction? I'm going to hold it up there tomarrow. There are a few pics in the new pi......but I need an overhead pic....before I drill the first hole.

Lookin good ...I was doing a little body work tonight also .. mounting my GTS bumperettes. The car came wit out holes for the bumpers and when it came to US in 85 the cut them in with snips and welded on brackets .. the wleds looked like bird shit ..so I grnded them off clean and filled the holes next a little filler.

It doesn't blow the manuer off, just the flies. You don't want the Webers swallowing them, right?

Dont sweat it ..I think there is no set location for anything on these cars.
One thing I did notice having my two cars next to one another is the tail light panels are different ... the Euro's nave a 24" indentation for the Euro long style license plate while the USA version has only about 12" ... did you know there were different tail light panels... I think that would be the easyest way to tell a Euro from a US.

I've got fiberglass L bumpers. I saw them body color and don't know if I like that though.
Also I think I like the car 2 tone, black below the beltline.
You must admit that is a lotta red to look at otherwise. It numbs my eyes.
