I second that Will. Install a surge tank, with a pressure cap on the tank. The overflow tank can be used as the surge tank quite easily, it needs a lower outlet welded on & then plumbed into the suction of your water pump, perhaps via a nipple on the pump. Air bleeds from the radiator & motor outlet to the surge tank will keep the air out of your system.
A side benefit, you'll increase coolant flow and improve the cooling system performance.
