Hello,

This might help others. After trying several LED tail light bulbs to increase brightness without much success, I read good reviews about Putco LED Plasma 360 degree bulbs on a different forum and decided to give it a try. What a difference in brightness, as good as any modern tail light. Super bright! Originally I had planned to install reflective chrome tape in light housing but, there is no need for it with these bulbs. They were $64 from Summit Racing, part number PUT-241157R-360.

flasher needs to be changed for the turn signal to blink at normal speed.

Not necessarily so.

The flasher depends on a certain amount of resistance in the bulb circuit. LED'S offer less resistance - take less amps - and lower the circuit's total resistance. While replacing ALL the circuit's bulbs with LED's will no doubt necessitate a correct flasher upgrade, replacing some of the bulbs may not reach the 'trigger' point of too-low resistance.

Perhaps a Pantera can handle replacing just the two rear turn indicator bulbs without a flasher replacement?

Perhaps worth trying first and THEN getting a upgraded flasher if found to be needed.

This is an upgrade I have been wanting to do for a long time. The original incandescent lights are very very weak. And with the great increase in distracted driving accidents we need all the help we can getting the other driver's attention when stopping.

The price of the Putcos seemed high. But they are well rated by many forums. However, being the frugal (cheap arse) that I am I started a search for other less expensive alternatives. On a classic Cougar forum I was linked to a Cougar supplier that seems to have an equally good product at half the cost.

Check out this link w video below. I have not yet received them but will re post after installation.

I received my LED Plasma bulbs from West Coast Classic Cougar. The bulbs carry their branding WCCC and seem well made. Installed in my Grp 4 lens the difference between my old incandescent bulbs is huge. The pictures and video on the WCCC site is accurate of the difference in both tail light and brake light. For the $31 including shipping, I consider this a good value and a highly recommended safety upgrade.

FWIW, I have the Space City Pantera's LED bulb kit and replaced all but the exterior bulbs with the LED's except the two front turn signals and they all still flash, albeit more quickly, but haven't installed the flasher relay/diode thingy yet. That's still on my "to do" list, but have other things to address first.
