I, like many of us I suspect, watch quite a few items on Ebay, hoping to maybe pick up a 'bargain'. Sometimes my judgement gets the better of me and I even end up buying something, usually something I don't really need but would maybe like or even an item as a spare tp collect dust on ashelf for that rainy day... especially if its Pantera related Wink.

Lately, with the penomenal growth of Ebay the more I watch the more I'm amazed at the prices people will pay for items. Latest example is a nice pair of used sway bar caps that sold for $81, well where's the sense here, PI sell 'em for $36.95 ea. Confused

Hey, can't you just tell I'm bitter because I ain't got a garage full of items to sell at inflated prices Big Grin

The mystery to me is why anybody would buy or sell anything on ebay?? That place is rife with flim-flam con artists looking to part people with their hard earned income.
I have never bought, or have I ever sold anything on ebay. All the rest of my family has and I am the last hold out. But money is too hard for me to come by to give it to thieves that way. No sir, not me, I will never trust ebay and and never will. If you guys want the mark of the beast you just go right ahead, but not me.
Dethom, I bought my Pantera off Ebay. I have bought and sold over 160 items. Nobody is out to get your money. You just have to use common sense. If you think you are buying a gr4 for $2500 you know that it ain't right. What a wonderful time we live in, bringing buyers and sellers together with the power of the internet The feed back rating it what makes it good. If a seller cheats lies or rips off the buyer give a bad feedback. Too many bad and they get banned. But Honest people like me and you get it to work for us. PPPSSTT, Wanna buy some tie rod ends? You know I would not rip you!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIte...ame=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT
I found my car on ebay (didn't buy it on ebay though), and have bought a couple of misc car items that I have been generally pleased with. I have gotten some great deals on Lionel trains (the sellers didn't actually know what they had!). But my favorite is kids shoes. I regularly get shoes that cost someone well over $50 for less than $5. Probably bought 20 pairs of shoes now and have only gotten screwed once.
Yes, there is a learning curve to eBay. You MUST do your homework, study before buying/selling, and know how to access the eBay information that is there for the searching. I also found my car on eBay, did not buy it there, though.

I have bought and sold in the USA, Israel, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Singapore, UK, Norway, Canada, Brazil and Japan. Never burned on anything. Over 300 transactions now, and going strong.

This week I received Dremel cutoff wheels at half the store price, delivered to my door. Last week, got two textbooks for my wife's studies. Have been buying ATT free-2-go cell phone time at about half price for two years now. Buy all my HP printer ink off eBay, mint genuine cartridges at about 60% of store prices.

CB radio off eBay with at least a $40 savings.

YMMV, but I love eBay.

Don't get me wrong I use Ebay a lot and have made some great savings - latest was snowboarding equipment for me and my son. In 5 years (touch wood) I've only been burned once for $6 on a DVD.

During my years overseas in remote mining communities Ebay was a godsend and virtually the only way of getting some of the stuff I wanted.

You all hit the crux; do your homework. Often I'll find an item retail at or below Ebay prices, after all, many of the sellers are simply middle men selling on Ebay for a living.

Fix your max bid price and stick to it no matter what....definitely no last minute auction fever; oh just a couple $$$ more, it'll be mine Smiler.
Yep, EBAY is great. I am new to the PI Boards, but have over 1000 positive Feedbacks and love the EBAY outlet. If you have junk to sell you have an outlet if you need something check out ebay for prices first, most of the time if you keep a cool head you can get a deal. If anybody needs help or has questions get in touch with me. Happy to help out I have been selling and buying for 7 years now on EBAY. My direct email is johnnamisnak@qwest.net

Even have my 1971 Red Pantera # 2098 highlighted under the me portion of EBAY. So we get extra recognition worldwide for the Pantera name plate!

Happy hunting
