I have been thinking about moving away from tradition and painting my Pantera a dark, satin gray. Kinda like the Reventon. I will powdercoat all the trim black. I just want it to look unusual and cool when I take it to events to push my clothing line.

Purists take note: White isn't the original color, it is a GT5 conversion, and the motor, suspension and brakes are modified, so it will never be close to an original car again.

I will paint it a bright color again when the "flat" falls out of fashion.

Thoughts?

No NO. You see Robert.. Paint is not just for metal protection. It should be pleasing to look at. Now if you want to camoflouge your old pickup.. go for it. Your car should make a statment. Don't make it say your too cheap to have it painted properly. Eeker Please don't take offence, you should know I own Slickum Paint and Collision Shop. I'm just a fan of "slick"
You could put down a layer of carbon fiber and then put a clear coat over that! It would make it look like the entire car was made out of carbon fiber, which would be badass IMHO. I would love to make a Pantera monocoque entirely out of carbon fiber. Imagine a Pantera that only weighed 2000 pounds and had a seven hundred horse all aluminum cleveland! Its enough to make you gizz your shorts I tell ya.
The Reventon is hideous. Your white car, however, is beautiful. Do it if you want to but the Reventon is designed to look like a stealth fighter or something, it isn't even an original styling concept to that car. Your car would then have third hand styling, and that puts you behind the fashion curve. I am not someone who dislikes Lamborghini's as a rule either, I think maybe if you are going to copy their paint you should go with their lime-green metallic color, that would be sweet.

BTW - detom if you figure out how to make that monocoque give me a call, we can go into business together - I would love to learn to make stuff out of CF.

Mark - if that really is your car I meant no disrespect, it is cool for its rarity and uniqueness alone.
Thanks for the input everyone.

I'm still not sure what I will do. I have seen a LOT of satin (I don't like the flat black) cars and I always think they are awesome.

As for looking "slick" - it won't look like primer. Do you think it will look cheap?

Detom - I saw a Lotus Elise at SEMA that was all carbon fiber. LOVED IT. I would do it if I could!

72Red - My goal isn't to copy Lambo styling, I just figured that was the best example of satin paint that most people have seen.

Mark - I hope someone will Photoshop your car in any color...because my car looks like yours minus a few rivets and that bad a** exhaust. :-)
I think it would be interesting.

I just bought a gallon of Rat Rod black from Eastwood. I was going to paint the 68 Mustang project with it but changed my mind and went Grabber Blue and black instead. Almost done with that too.

Unlike primer the Eastwood stuff is a finish matte paint so it protects the surface just like a clear. It's not flat. It does not need a clear appied over it. Primer is porous and will absorb moisture....this stuff won't.
It is based on square footage. I designed a wrap for a clients delivery van and it cost $3000 to print and install.

Doing a Pantera would have a lot more detail work (complex shapes) and may cost more. The wrap place wants to do my car, so if I decide to do it I might be able to swing a deal where they can use it for advertising.

I will post the price if I decide to get a quote.
