I need some help on upgradeing to either 17" or 18" rim and tire.
Right now, the '72 has 345/35/15's on a set of 12" wide rims for the rear and 285/40/15's on a set of 10" wide fronts.
just picked up 8 used tires, 6 rears and 2 fronts, but the front tires are to far gone to use safely, so it's time to upgrade.
I have searched, but haven't seen a thread with a complete resolution on keeping the same width/hieght while moving up to a larger rim.
I really would rather only bump up to a 17", the car rides too nice as is and if I lose too much sidewall I'm afraid the ride is going to suffer.
The few options I have found on Tire Rack/ etc. increase the tire height beyound what I think will work clearance wise?
Now that I've seen the car with the 285's up front, I realy don't want to go narrower. It's had a set of 225/40/15 on it, tires were a little too narrow for the 10" rim, so it looked a little odd.
