what would you recommend to look for when buying a used zf. What to stay away from.
Difficult to tell the internal workings without covers off. I looking for something to have it rebuilt. My concern is buying something shipping it to you guys and finding out my good deal was a case full of broken gears.

LLoyd (do you guys offer same name discounts?)

IF you are going to buy a used ZF first you need to see what type it is,-1 -2 M1 then
will it work for your car, like is it a M1 box that has a shifter you may need to replace, what direction is it set to run,if it's set to run in a BMW M1 and you put it in a Pantera you will have 1 forward and 5 reverse gears unless you change the diff.If you don't know what car it's out of the input shaft need to be checked, there are a lot of sizes and lengths. After all that remove the big cover to look at the Ring and Pinion, are the teeth pitted??? That is the only check you can do unless you split the case.Hope that helps.
