The young man in the pictures below is my great nephew Cody. Cody is 10 years old.

I spent my Sunday trackside, cheering him on and taking pictures. It was the final race of the series.

The result, 2nd place for the day, and second place for the series.

By all rights he should have won the series. He is the fastest kid in his class.
But in the final race he fell, and the kid closest to him in the points race passed
him and went on to win the race and the series by a couple of points. Afterwards
Cody remarked to his father that things turned out OK anyway, because the kid who
won the series has never won anything before. Cody thought it was cool the other
kid finally had the joy of winning first place.

In my book Cody is a class act.

Sounds like Cody has a true winners competitive spirit. He could have phoned in that last race and run "not to lose", but chose to compete at his highest level. He accepted the risk in counting on himself right to the end. He decided to win or lose on his own terms.
I like the football players that act like a spectacular tackle, catch, or run are expected of them. No undue celebration. Just calm professionalism and class. It sounds like Cody expects to win every race (healthy), but doesn't let a set-back spoil the effort (healthier), and knows that he will win again on another day (healthiest).
With a attitude like that, he's set for life.
