I'm sure this has been posted before in the old Bulletin Board, but I couldn't find it thru the search engine. What is the serial # of the last Pre-L?

I am asking this because I saw (via the Internet) a Pantera near St.Lous that is described as a '73 but has Pre-L bumpers and a 2 pod dash. The serial # is IHPNMD04070 according to the dealer. The dealer seems to know nothing about P-cars so if someone lives near there I would be interested in their opinion of this car. This car is really a Pre-L '72, isn't it? If someone who runs the 'registry' give me more history on this car, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Jerry,

I have a vehicle that was titled as a 1973 model (built 07/72) which is a pre-L with a 2 pod dash. I will be curious to see what the last pre-L VIN was too. Gary Hall, of Hall Pantera, while in Michigan the summer before last for the Woodward Dream Cruise, said that my vehicle was actually a 1972 sold as a 1973.

>>>The actual VIN is THPNMD04070. It is a 1972 Pre-L, manufactured in July (August?) of 1972. The first L-model was #4269.

Hi., I just purchased 04273 Recently. It was a Ford exec or show car. I am trying to find out more info on the car. If the last pre-L was 04269 I have the fourth L off the assembly line. It is comp orange and in all original condition with 13K miles. I have done some really minor mods to the motor otherwise all stock.

>>>Not necessarily. Remember, these cars weren't always built in sequential order (by VIN) The Ford parts book lists VINs for cars with early and late bumpers. Undoubtedly yours is an early L; it may or may not be the fourth however.

Cheers!

Mike
