On my Red 5S, the passenger side window was acting funky on the way up, kind of jerking, then it lost function on the way up. Going down is fine. Fuses look fine. So today I took some of the door off thinking maybe the window hit a wire or something. But everything looks fine. In watching the Amp guage on the dash, the needle moves slightly when lowering the window, but no Amp guage movement at all when I attempt to raise the window. How may I determine if it may be the window motor, window switch, or something else. Here is a shot of the wires to the motor, and they are intact.

Damn, where do I send the check? The bad switch was it, all after I tore the door apart looking around. Learn as you go I guess. I am just glad I took a photo of all those wires too from both switches before I took them all apart, so I knew where they all go back Smiler

Thanks for the tip, now just to order me da switch so I can go back to cruisin the coast wavin at da babes.
Jan,

If you have the Bosch switches like most of us, they come apart quite easily and the rocker contact inside can be cleaned. Mine was all cruddy after just two years and did exactly what you describe. The factory switches just crumble when you try to take them apart.

Radio Shack sells (or used to sell) spray contact cleaner. Great for cleaning contacts, molex multiprong plugs and other such hard to reach areas. Also, you didn't need it this round but keep in mind for next time- the window and headlight motors are DC with brushes, and sometimes the brushes are at fault. $1 buys a couple of carbon brushes....
