I am in the middle of my 5.4 conversion on my early 71 car and spent this weekend sorting out the engine compartment wiring. Anyway there is some kind of 4 -way junction box coming out of the firewall that has a large black wire that goes to the alternator from the amp gauge on one side and a white wire(approx 12 ga) running parallel with it that goes to the voltage regulator / alternator. Where does this white wire lead to in the passenger compartment?

Also there is a blue/black wire that goes directly to the voltage regulator. Where does this wire lead to in the passenger compartment?

By the way the wiring diagram is no help at all

I pretty much rewired my entire engine compartment on #1797, so here goes. The white wire, I never found any use for it at all! It looks like it had never been used. I believe the blue w/black tracer goes to the charge indicator. I had several wiring diagrams to choose from, none of which matched. Like BJ at PPC said, it appears on some days they just used whatever was available!

Thanks Husker! I noticed the white wire terminates at the 4 way junction thing and was really curious why. I thought maybe a PO had done it but I guess it was from the factory.
