Lloyd, the Saleen supercar is advertised to run a ZF 6-speed transaxle. Is this unit similar to our 5/DS-25/2? I'm curious, because Autoweek mentioned that the Saleen would be contesting in the ALMS series in 2001. In its 1st track outing at Laguna Seca last month during the 2000 ALMS wrap-up race, the Saleen was reported to have DNF-ed due to suspected transmission failure. Can you shed some light on this?

Yes,for starter we only supply 6-speeds for
the production Saleen S7.For the race car they have an Extrac Dog-Ring sequential transverse box, were they had trouble with the barrel shift. The new (RBT-6)transaxle
we used the main case and gear housing of the
ZF 5-speed and redesigned all the internal parts like the input shaft, pinion shaft,
shift rails, different shift hubs, the list goes on.There is a 55mm spacer between the
main case and the gear housing, thats the only
way to tell it's a 6-speed beside the RBT
that is cast in case parts.
