FWIW, the Geneva Car Show was last week, and I cannot locate the slightest hint that Rossignolo or ICI are in the car biz.... yet. Santiago is of the opinion that it will be 2012 before the first model hits the road- and it likely will be the SUV.
Can you shed some more light on this??? How do you know that?? Inquiring minds want to know.
An electric sports car is certainly cutting edge, green, and forward looking. Not my cup of tea, but I'm an old fossil, I know there will be some guys interested in such a vehicle. And like David wrote, there certainly are guys with the money to afford such a vehicle, but not that many amongst the ranks of North American Pantera owners.
My advice is keep it as light as possible, because light cars accelerate quicker, brake in less distance, respond to driver inputs more responsively, negotiate turns at higher speeds, handle better. Give it just enough electric motor to make it the fastest car on the road, perhaps offer that 1000 ft/lb motor as an upgrade.
Guys interested in the car will be asking how many miles per charge at what speed, time to recharge, warranty period on the batteries, replacement cost of batteries. But those are questions for the guys who are interested to ask.
Of course, the new owners of DeTomaso have my best wishes for success.

Personally, I don't care where my power comes from, but the thought of batteries is troublesome for me. What is going to happen when we have millions more car batteries to dispose of? And nickel mining isn't exactly clean.
Back to the subject, I really have my fingers crossed that they will release a Pantera, and that it will cost over $100K. Any lower and it will compete with our older cars, since most people will choose the new one if it is only a little more expensive.

In my opinion an electric Pantera is JUNK!!!!!
The Rossignolo family is already heavily involved in car-building for other marques at their factory. They are aluminum specialists. The new cars will be Ford powered although electric power will be available at some point and in some models. The SUV as reported in the Bulletin that you can download from this site, will be first in line followed by the new Pantera. It is OK to be skeptical but these new cars are a definite "Go" and the financing is in place to make them happen. I hope that the earliest pictures and details will be first shown on this Forum.
I am excited. Any chance PI will be providing service? Come to think of it, how does a small company like that provide service?
I didn't see it posted here yet - but I might have missed it - the Detomaso website has been updated. Just press releases for now and they list the address as Turin. (ici offices of Pininfarina)
