After the dismal Marina airport event, some of the other Italian marques (ours included) began to organize an event that would not feel like a ricer-gathering-at-the-mall event.

It is now finalized, about the same time Concorso is telling us THEY are sorry about last year and intend to return to a nicer venue.

Soooo, we will have TWO Friday Italian car events.

Concorso Italiano - early bird registration is now up to $125 from $75 last year. Admits two people IN the car. Location? A golf course to be announced soon.

La Dolce Vita - early bird registration is $50 per car, additional persons IN the car for $25. Held on the driving range at the Black Horse Golf Course (old Concorso course, new section).

I don't know which will get MY registration.

I'll have to see which one has the best fashion show, is displaying the most boats, and can come up with a replacement for the now-defunct Lambo Orange county girls.

I have also heard about 200 of the dancing-donkey boys have moved out to The Quail event in Carmel Valley - sure will miss them... Frowner

I thought from Mark McWhinney's post on the e-mail list this new event was to be on the Thursday, thus not conflicting with the Concurso?

Unfortuately the fact they are on the same day will do nothing to help the success of either event. Tough choice; standing behind the new ownership and resurection of Concurso or supporting the 'breakaway Don's' who saw Concurso was going nowhere based upon teh Marina location. I wonder how much of the 'sale' of Concurso is to do with getting out of the 5 yr contract for Marina Airport?

I guess as a group we should get an idea of who prefers which event, but until we know for sure where Concurso will be that may be difficult.
If the Ferrari Owners Club & Ferrari Club of America join together to back one event, that will be where the momentum is.

I will support whichever event Pantera owners want to attend, but whatever the decision is, we should do this as a group.

It would be nice if the Concorso would reveal where their event is planned.
I've been to the event one time and had a great time!

But jeeze, how many red Ferrari's do you need to see? And the cost, if you do the whole event, what..$1000? I know there are a lot of other nice cars to see. I think because of the economy the numbers may be down this year. Too rich for me this year! I wish them well!

Like last year, I'll probable head to Minden/Gardnerville Nv. that weekend. Where the Valley Cruisers Car Club put on a great little car show! Much less money, and I don't think I saw one red Ferrari last year!

I think that was the ONLY reason for the sale.

And I know last year's location WAS a curse
but will you knock of the Concurso spelling, please?

I'm having trouble reading your posts without cracking a smile. Smiler

Good one, by the way. Big Grin
Hey, at least I got a smile outta ya!

I'll revert to correct spelling now my subliminal bash of last years event has been rused. Big Grin

I'll go with the majority, but the new event is titled as 'European' so now it opens up a second dilema of what car do I bring.
The alternative event, La Dolce Vita (Monterey Bay Concours), had been scheduled for Thursday but is now going head to head with Concorso Italiano on Friday. It creates a conflict, but it does remove the conflict with the Baja Cantina event.

Nether POCA nor PCNC have an official relationship with either event.

Personally, I have not been to Concorso for a few years, since I am more of a track guy and have seen enough acreage of Magnum PI wannabes for a lifetime. This year, I will skip the track for a change and go to an event on Friday. The La Dolce Vita event is half the cost and is in a known-good place, so I will give it a shot.

The event that gets the majority of Ferraris will come out on top. Concorso pays a promotion fee to the car clubs, so there is a lot of money involved for the Ferrari folks which has been responsible for much of the back office drama in recent years. It will be interesting to see how it plays out with the new Concorso owner.

It's la vita loca. Smiler
