Had to find a way to keep them in, and not blow out of the exhaust pipe. Came up with using piano wire as springs. See image. Worked really well, which I learnt first hand when testing it Wink
The springs will also center the insert fairly well.
A before and after sound/ video clip coming up when all four are done.

onced installed, how do you pull them back out?

It seems it is used together with a "ball joint" for doing repairs, in this case for a Peugeot Smiler
Note I had to take off approx. 0.5mm all the way around the flared end for a press fit in the exhaust pipe.

The way I got it out was by inserting a bent steel wire that would hook into holes of the perforated pipe and then it could be "wiggled" out.
