I am putting new piston rings into a motor and found damage to the top compression ring on cylinder #6. This is the cylinder with the lowest compression in the engine. There is a lip or burr on the top outer edge that you can feel and even see in the photo below. The top ring on #8 (much better compression) does not have the issue. Both cylinder bores have little wear. Has anyone seen this type failure?
