Woowho!
Exciting news.
We have just been told that a truck is coming to us from the Pirelli factory, among other things in there is a fresh delivery of the tyre the Pantera Fraternity asked for.
285/50R15 Pirelli Cinturato P7 - this tyre can be fitted on an 8" to 10" rim so these can fit the rear of everything except the wide body cars.
This matches up with the front tyre
225/50VR15 Pirelli  Cinturato P7 - this fits on a 6" to 8" rim so again everything but the wide body.
This set up was original equipment on the 1979 - 1984 GTS and Group 3 cars, but can be fitted on the earlier cars that fitted the 205/60R15 and 255/60R15 set up where there is not a good option for you. Personally if i had one of the really early push button cars i would actually fit the Michelin XWX tyres. We do also have the wide body set up on the shelf too.
I do often find that people don't get as excited as i do about things like this.

And what do you have that is cheaper with a correct speed rating?

Nothing. I am just rapidly getting priced out of my own cars.

The speed rating is more significant to you in Europe. Here in the USA it just represents a status symbol with little practical necessity.

I suppose that I am thankful that the tire is being reproduced for you. Enjoy.

Great News Dougal, thanks for supporting us,

cheers, Tim.

You buy tires once every 10 years assuming you don't drive them like an 18 year old and follow the 10 year replacement rule.  $2500 by 10 is $250 a year.  Seems like a reasonable expectation to me when owning a car like this.  I just paid $1200 for a set of Michelin's for my 2004 Lexus.  Tires no longer cost $75 each guys.

And  A big thanks to Douglas and Lucas Tires for having the vision to keep this stuff alive and available for such a small market.

For “all show, no go…” 10 year old tires may be OK… Max 5 years - they have to go (if they make it that long)

I see all the Panteras with 427s in it, Wilwood brakes, Frame stiffners suspension upgrades and on and on - Whoever you talk to has 600 horse… What’s the point if you don’t step on the pedal?? Old tires Get you in trouble - You can drive spirited and be still within the speed limit in the US.

well, I admit the tires on my Tractor were at least 10 years old.. no problem at 20 miles an hour… he had 30 hp and cornering abilities of the tractor was not my concern..
