Different engines

I was reading in this months Pantera magazine about the guy who's updating his car and he's looking for a W 12 out of an Audi or a Phaeton. That sounds like a fantastic engine to put in to a Pantera. I know there have been a lot of people who have dropped in Chevy engines as well as every Ford V8 made it seems. I remember there being a few turbo Dodge V 8s prototypes when Detomaso and Shelby were working together again with Lee Iacocca in the early 80s. I know there are Guaras with factory issued BMW 4.0 V 8s as well as the 6 cylinder Pantera that was also built by the factory. Are there any other successful transplants done? It would seem a German V 8 would be a natural to go with the ZF. Has any one shoehorned a V 12 in there? I guess it might be to long. I just saw a picture of a Jag V 12 in a TR 7 and a Jeep Cj with a 10 cylinder out of a Viper so I guess anything can be made to fit. Just so my friends don't think I've lost my mind, I'm staying with my Cleveland. Vince

Goran Malmburg of Sweden has a monster Hemi in his Pantera....

I've seen an early Pantera with a 4.4 liter BMW engine. He tracks his car regularly and apparently had trouble making his Cleveland live on the track so he went Teutonic.

DeTomaso (in)famously fitted a Maserati 6-cylinder in a Pantera prototype.
