OK, looks like I'm not getting any help here. I noticed on the lower hinge that there is what appears to be an arm that stops the door just when it is about to cut my door lamp wire in two. It would be nice if it had an adjustable cam in it.So it does not open as far. ANY thoughts?
Since you're looking for ANY thoughts, I'll jump right in here and offer my thoughts. First, I don't have experience in this specific matters, so I'd ask the paint and body guy about it, and I'd have him make a specific warranty representation in the Repair Order, that he's taking responsibility to make sure the door stop is functioning properly and not going to allow a problem with contact of paint on paint of the door and fender. Second, it is really hard to look and see how it works while the doors are still installed on the car. But is seems like youmay be able to put some washers under the mounting points from the inside of the door, underneath the upholstered door panel, right in front of the window mechanism. Generically speaking, Pantera's used as many off the shelf parts as possible, and the bodyman has the best chance of all to recognize the part and replacement item. Also, generally speaking, these body parts are all sort of made so they have lots of ways to shim or adjust to fit, so it's probablyjust a matter of taking it all apart and inspecting it. If the little bar that seems like it has a groove cut into it has elongated, or worn out, a welder may be able to fill it back in at the end which is worn out, but spacers or shims are probably to easiest way to go. I'd take to door panel off from the interior and look in there with my flashlight first ... try and see if there's any place to adjust it from. If nothing obvious appeared to me after a hour or two of effort, I'd consult the bodyman. Wish I could have been more helpful, made a try any gave my thoughts, however productive they may or may not be. Either play around with it or ask the experts, really just depends how much time you have. Just go slow and if you get to a point of no turning back, don't cross that bridge until you're committed ... Me, I'd drive it over to the bodyman if I couldn't get it done in an hour or two.
Good points, I like the elogated hole idea. And,I am the body man. This is my firt Pantera. It should be able to be painted like any other car. I like ideas, and paint advice, I have eliminated the problem of the rear deck scraping my quarter panel edges through this site. Thanks....

I am sorry Mr. Pushbutton but the reason I didn't answer was I have never had this fail on my car just yet so I don't know. I do know the car doors open real wide, but they have to because the car is so hard to get in and out of. I also know those dorr kits are getting real popular with customizers and there are companies out there that will make them for any model car out there. The ones i am talking about lift up and out at the same time. Sort of like a cross between what lambo doors do and regular doors. This lets you get out in a tighht parking space without banging your door in to the next car. You may check those out and see what you think.
Maybe give Jerry Sackett at PI Motorsports a call and ask about it. He's restored and customised dozens of Pantera's and has lots of parts laying around that aren't advertised, like from salvaged Pantera's. More than likely he'd have it or be able to just answer your question with specificty.

We try and forecast these problems ahead of time, I know, so we can reduce project downtime. But, if you're going to do it, you may just want to take the door off and pull the hinge off and simply look at it. Most likely, the solution will reveal itself at that point. I've adjusted the sagging in the doors and the hinges have wide holes in them to adjust around, but that's as deep into the subject as I got. It just takes patience to do it yourself, and most of the time, it's not as complicated as I feared initially. There's definitely a simple, affordable solution, but I'm at the outer edges of my specific knowledge on this topic. Give Jerry a call. Simple. I think he just doesn't like to sit at the keyboard and type ... but he'd know and be happy to talk to you, that's what he does for a living: help Pantera guys out, sometimes sell parts, smetimes give advice and then much later, sell parts or turn wrenches or do a complete project. Same as lots of us in business, free advice just goes with the territory and leads to referrals and business. We welcome the "3 minute phone call" and that's part of doing business. Maybe make a few bucks, maybe now, maybe later, maybe give a referral to another vendor, maybe get a referral from another vendor. We just stay in the loop and stay in business by helping folks out. That's the fastest, most accurate way to get a handle on the situation, no problemo.
