The engine starts to miss at 3500 RPM. It seems to run okay below 3500. I checked the fuel filter and line from the fuel pump to the carb and its clear. I checked the carb inlet and its clear.
I went skipping for 3 days before I replaced my plugs and I gapped them at .060..A little wide. With your msd I would suggest .055. I replaced wires, swapped coils, drained fuel, Finally in the end it liked the new plugs and the wide gap.Has not missed a lick since.
Thanks lastpushbutton. Well so far I have replaced the cap, rotor, and plugs. 3 of the plugs were very black and fouled, 3 were a nice tan color, 2 okay. The miss is a little better but not gone. So now I'll try replacing the plug wires. Any suggestion about brand or type that works best.
Holley advice; My new 600 holley was missing the secondary metering plate (not a metering block) so when I pulled the bowl all that was visible was a blue gasket there should have been a plate over that. It did just what you are speaking of and it gets worse if you try to push it past it. I added a metering plate and all was clear.. Hope this helps.. If this is not the case you may also want to check out your power valves they blow easily..
