I decided to replace my lines to the evaporator while I was installing my new compressor - all the other lines are new except these two.
When I was removing the big hose on the fitting, I must have twisted the copper pipe a little - even though I had a wrench on it. The fitting was SUPER tight. Anyway it looks like I tweaked the copper pipe a little. Can it be massaged back into shape?
Does anyone have a pic of what it's supposed to look like?

Wow, so mine was previously bent downward at almost 90 degrees.

Any advice on straightening or should I leave it alone?
I would leave it alone. If it works don't "fix" it.
I agree about leaving it alone if it works. Although, if the pipe does, indeed, have a 90-degree bend in it, I'd be surprised if it isn't kinked enough to significantly reduce or shut down the flow. Worst case, the pipe could have a split in it.
Copper work-hardens when bent. It's hardly visible so if it still works, you run a significant risk of cracking the line trying to straighten it-m for aesthetics. Then you get to pull the dash and completely replace the evaporator. Leave it alone and be very careful connecting it up.
Thanks Jack. That's the plan. I need to get inspired to get the expansion valve off now and clean the screen. Not looking forward to this part of the job.
You do not have to remove the expansion valve to access the screen. It is on the inlet side of the valve, just disconnect the hose and there it is.
Oh wow. Thanks. So no point in replacing the old expansion valve? I ordered a new one because I was in a "while I'm in there" kind of mood.
The system worked fine before.
