Which docks did you go to in NY ... we ship from the NJ docks ... never knew there was a NY dock anymore.

Did you have insurance on the car and see if the Shipping co had insurance ... did you list the wheels and loose items on the bill of laden. Well make a claim on the insurance as they were stolen during shipping and Insurance Co. will investigate.

I would still get a police report from NYPD.

Bought them with the car, so not dodging import tax but they werent noted on the shipping docs. The shipping info says NY docks, maybe the same as NJ??
In hindsight should have been a bit tighter on the paperwork , hey ho.
Thanks for your input, glad to see this is a functioning forum and look forward to being part of it.

FWIW, if the missing wheels were 7" and 8" Campagnolos, the 7s are cheap-like-dirt- maybe $50-$75 ea USD in unrestored condition, while the 8" are more- maybe $100-150 each. If there were optional 10" Campagnolos involved, they now list at $1500 or more EACH. Magnesium wheels can have chips and dents TIG-welded, remachined, annealed and otherwise restored to as-new by vendors or at home, depending on how well equipped you are. Good luck with the new toy.
are the wheels shipped inside the car or outside the car ?
Loaded into Container or Ro/RO ?
By shipping Ro/Ro its mostly not alowed to put spare parts or wheels into the car.
By shipping seperatly by the car into a container , it must be registrated on the bill of sale ,by sample ; 1 car , wheels and spare parts and a total price. Also it must be discribed on the loading papers.

On the subject of the missing wheels I'm sorry to say you can be 99.9% sure you have seen the last of them. When I looked into shipping a car to europe they warned against leaving ANYTHING in the car. The docks are infamous for crime and organized crime. Someone probably thought they were valuable (when they saw the beautiful exotic Pantera, and snatched them. The good news is they are easily replaced (unless the were the 10" wide ones which seems unlikely sine the picture of your car (if it's the one you shipped is a narrow body) Chalk this one up to a learning experience, and if there is a next time ship any extras or parts separately in a sealed package and itemized as well as insured. As a New Yorker I'm sorry you had a bad experience here. Most old campys are in dire need of restoration and if you are planing on upgrading your brakes (or if the car already has upgraded brakes the stock campys won't fit anymore. That's one reason the market is flooded with used Campy wheels. Well good luck I hope the rest of your experience is all positive and I know you will enjoy the car. Welcome to the forum!
