Petrol in Fillmore tends to run about 10 cents per gallon more than the average in So Cal. Today I filled my daily driver with 87 octane at $2.96 per gallon.

I do not wish to ruin my own thread with politics. And I agree we are getting screwed with no relief from the current administration.

But it is the Democrats who have for decades killed every chance we have had to become energy self sufficient. We have been unable to develop our own oil resources because of Democrats fighting every attempt to drill in the gulf or other areas. Democrats have fought nuclear alternatives and even Kerry and Kennedy denied wind developed energy because it was it was going to be near their multi million dollar homes.

Don't get me wrong all politicians share responsibility for the mess we are in today. But the blame should be placed on both parties.

I doubt either party can do much about the oil executives lucrative benifits BUUTTTT there is one good side to this. Higher prices will make it more posible for others to come up with alternatives. We have plenty of ways of using different energy but the implimentation is not cost effective...Until the price of gas goes up. With recent trends, some programs are starting to pick up a little momentum.

Well, if the American people don't get mad enough to do something about things then we will continue to get more of the same. And that probably means more fantasy. (Personally I like to get kissed when I get screwed).

OK,back on my soap box. I will immediately date myself, but I was a senior in high school during the oil embargo. It has been 30 + years and we have learned nothing. We have had plenty of time to develop fuel efficient trucks and SUVs. It just was not cost effective for the auto makers and we were all fat and happy with cheap gas. That being said we could have developed our own resources and alternative energy sources and told the rest of the world specifically the middle east suppliers to go screw themselves.

Unfortunately, that did not happen and we have no quick fixes. Each day is a new adventure to see if someone sneezes in an oil producing country and our gas prices will immediately go up. And as China continues to develop we will continue to see high world demand escalate oil prices. I know there is little sympathy from our European friends who have been paying out their rear ends for fuel for decades but I for one have been spoiled by cheap gas.

I am a rep and drive a lot in my job, the increase in gas prices has gone up considerably more than the increase in my mileage reimbursement.

Hell, this topic (my own) is getting me depressed, I think I will go out for a night time drive in the Pantera to cheer me up.

Lot of people yelling for peace, but have not heard of a plan, so heres one. Leave it up to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. We need the US ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

The US will apoligize to the world for our “interference” in their affairs, past & present. We will promise not to “interfere” again.
We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, and the Philippines. They don’t want us there. We would station our troops at our borders. No more sneaking through holes in the fence.
All Illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We will give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless who they are. France would welcome them!!!
All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90-day visits unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation would be allowed in. If you don’t like it there, change it yourself or don’t hide here. Asylum would not ever be available to anyone. We don’t need anymore cab drivers!
No “students” over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don’t attend classes, they get a D and its back home baby!!!

Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries, $10.00 a barrel for their oil. If they don’t like it, we go somewhere else.
If there is a famine or another castrophe in the world, we will not “interfere” They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement, or whatever they need. Besides, most of what we give the gets lost, or taken by another army. The people who need it most get very little anyway.
Ship the UN Headquarters to an island some place. We don’t need the spies and fair whether friends here. Besides, it would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.
Use the buildings as a replacement for the twin towers

I'm bummed too.
Got gas yesterday for the Pantera, 2.96 a gallon. At about 8 miles a gallon city, ouch. I figure that about 150.00+ a week to continue to drive the Pantera everyday.

Soooooo, informed my son, who's been driving my Mercedes 400E that he's back to driving his Volvo so I can drive the Benz.

Gas prices suck and so do Politicians.

Maybe the reason that the cars are going overseas is because they can afford to drive the cars at $8 a gallon and the Americans can't at $3? I noticed that this seems to be a US discussion. What's happening up in Canada with gas you hosers?
