Hi Guys,
After much searching I have finally purchased my Pantera, a 1971 vin 2144 and I will no doubt continue where I left off from the last one I owned in 1978, that's the year not the vin so I've got lots of catching up to do, it's still in the States having the secound gear synchro sorted, as soon as I receive it I'll post some pics and pic all your brains.
Thanks and Regards
Stelios

Hi Stelios,

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to Pantera ownership!

As Andy says you should consider joining the De Tomaso drivers club as there are some great people in it.

If it's not too late you should also have a taller 5th gear installed while your ZF is apart. This is the single biggest improvement I have made to my car. It knocks appox 500 RPM off the engine at motorway speeds. I get an actual 100MPH at 4000RPM and achieved 20.1 MPG on a 2700 mile road trip to Italy and back, this included lots of fast driving.

Lloyd Butfoy is the man for ZF parts http://www.rbttrans.com/

Hi Guys,
Too late to upgrade to longer 5th gear but it does sound like a good upgrade especially for long distance touring which the Pantera is an ideal vehicle for, but thanks for the advice. Last year I managed a fantastic trip to the Mille Miglia in Italy with my Porsche GT3 what a fantastic trip that turned out even my wife thought it was great although visiting Venice, Lake Garda and visiting some friends in Switzerland might have helped, but the visit to the Schlumpf Museum in Mullhouse was fantastic, I highly recommend this in itself.
I,m having trouble trying to join the DT club in the UK so I guess I'll just have to persist I'm sure i will eventually manage it.
