New rims nearly finished

How the 19" centres started life.

Each billet of 6061 T6 Aluminium weighed 75kg, (165 lb) a piece.
Finished machined weight of 6.8 kg, (15 lb) each.

First of the rear 19x13” rims assembled.
34 M8x40 Titanium taper head screws & flange nuts holding the three pieces together.
(The 35th hole contains the valve stem).
Still yet to machine up the alloy centre caps.
It’s a very big wheel !!

Just found this thread. That is absolutely unbelievable. It is apparent you are a crazy person, which means you sure fit right in!

Amazed at the talent of people on this board.

Do you build wheels for other vehicles? Or is this a singular Pantera obsession? Just curious. Great to watch your project.

This is the first time I have made three piece rims in aluminium, we do make steel rims for our offroad buggies here at Edge & the occasional beadlock rim.
I did spend a lot of time on Solidworks playing with the design before the program went onto my friends CNC.
The Pantera is in the middle of new panel work so it will be a while before it can be viewed fully clothed with wheels.
Car is receiving new front & rear fenders, door skins, front hood & rocker boxes, as well as a complete new nose.
It does take time.

Crazy? I like to think so.
