I guess lug nuts are supposed to do more than just look pretty. Maybe he took them off to make thecar lighter????
How in the world did they do that?

One of two possibilities as I see it...
1. Someone played a dirty prank and removed all of the lug nuts. But, not likely because there was no profanity or violence following the incident.
2. Some club of morons planned it and intentionally removed the lug nuts to see how long it would take for the wheels to come off. This is what MUST have happened. Notice the back and forth swerving of the car immediately prior to the wheels falling off - there were no turns or cones which required such maneuvering - he was intentionally trying to get the wheels to fall off.
It's a shame! Ruined all 4 rotors and the rear quarter panel at a minimum.
I figured he drove the car to the track with street tires and changed to slicks once he got there. Put the lug nuts on by hand and then got destracted and didn't tighten them down...
Either that or it's one sick joke....

I can see forgetting one wheel but all four? Even I am not that senile!
You could not get ALL FOUR to come off at nearly the same time if the lug nuts had only been finger-tight. You couldn't do it!

Seems like a set up. Having all four go blowing off at once in the first corner is a little suspicious.
My guess. The owner went to race and put on different wheels. The wheels were thick and the studs were not long enough and they only had about 2 threads on each lug nut. The stress of a corner ripped the threads out of the lug nuts.

Looks like Joe Arpaio is up to his dirty tricks again!
I've seen this happen with 2 front wheels on a fwd Ford. The guy had forced incorrect pcd wheels onto the studs. The studs snapped after a couple of miles.
At the first close-up of the left rear hub, it looks like the wheel mount studs broke off. Looking closely, they can't be seen.
It is not clear what happened to the other 3 wheels because I can see some of the studs. The background dialogue indicates that the guys around the course are recovering the lug nuts.
Anyway, I find it bizarre, under any circumstances, to see 4 wheels come off a car at about the same time.
