That is a late vin# for a US push button Pantera. May have been converted or imported from another Country. Might be interesting to find out more about the car.
Agreed - interesting. My car is 200+ serial # earlier, and has rectangular door handles. What other unique features does it have? I'm also curious what ever your camera flash is reflecting off of in the pic - looks like maybe a side skirt?

Seems it is in the registry today. Looks like a European car imported into the US based on the gauges. May have been a left over push button body that was built later in 72 or someone may have just liked the push button handles and did a conversion. Also has a wide body kit and wing.
Welcome to the fold... Where are you getting your vin? LOOK under the front deck above the brake, clutch masters, under the carpet... There should be stamped numbers. The last button car was around 1383.. Your doors could have been changed, you still have the cut outs in the qtrs. WE would love to see more pics!
Welcome if you pull your headlight(s) out and look in the buckets the last 4 of the vin are there also well at least is was on mine. Enjoy the ride Joe
Interesting - if it's indeed a euro pushbutton it's serial no should be lower than #1285.
You should find the last 3 digits of the VIN stamped many places if it's one of the first handbuild cars - headlight buckets, all 3 engine covers, inside of doors, side gills, deck lid, front radiator cross bar, condenser screen ....
