My granddad and I are working on 1971 model and are trying to locate the fuel filter. unfortunately the manual doesn't have a picture of the engine taken apart. can anybody help

On the Motorcraft 4300 carb, the filter screws into the carb fuel
inlet. If you need a picture, I can take one this weekend. NAPA
should be able to get you the proper filter. Also, many people
splice a filter between the mechanical fuel pump and the carb inlet,
particularly when they use a Holley carb (which have sintered bronze
filters in the inlets).

The pic of mine was before I replaced it and the manifold. The OEM has been relegated to the parts bin for? It was well past its prime and I could never get it to run very well.
We are all assuming he still has the 4300 on the car.
