I bought a Powermaster 100amp single wire alternator from Summit. Used them succesfully in the past on my 302s but this is the first time on the Pantera.

I want to get rid of the external volt regulator but will I now not be able to use the gen warning light on the Pantera. The powermaster has an outlet for the gen warning light but in the instruction sheet it says not suitable for cars fitted with factory amp guages, see below from instruction sheet.

Optionally this indicator light function can be used on a Powermaster alternator in vehicles with a
factory voltmeter by removing the black rubber cover on the side of the alternator and connecting the
indicator light circuit to the #1 terminal of the Powermaster alternator.
Vehicles with a factory
ammeter cannot use this function

Does this apply to the Pantera wiring setup/amp guage etc, if so is there a way round it so I can use the gen warning light.

Cheers
Horace

Sorry JFB no I don't.

However if it helps it had the old style alternator plus volt reg and is wired as follows.

B/BK from volt reg to gen warning light.
Y from Volt reg to battery +ve side of starter relay
G/R from volt reg to alternator
O from volt reg to alternator

Heavy guage BK from alternator to amp guage and splice to thick guage pink on ignition switch.

Cheers
the original lamp comes on when the current fromthe battery is sinked by exciting the field.

when the altenator devolps voltage the excitation current is switch so there is no voltage drop acrross the lamp.

If the Powermaster uses a contact to ground for warning, then it will work as forestg said.
Would you want to remove the 15 ohm 10 watt resistor to reduce the current the contact will need to sink?
