Help me figure this out. In an otherwise stock 73 Pantera I put in these adjustable shocks.

1. Ride height: They're almost all the way down, can't get them all the way because the big ring will touch the firmness adjuster wheel, and it sits higher than before. About 3 fingers between fender and wheel on all 4 wheels
2. When I received the shock I had asked for "not too firm" setting. They were set at "4" on a "1" to "6" scale. Bob from Precision then mailed me that to get it firmer, go to a higher number, so I changed to "6". Still rides like my Buick Riviera!

Help. Do you guys have experience with this. Are these shocks right for my car at all??

Did Bob or literature give you ANY idea on the spring rates for the springs that you received?

Did you previously have stock shocks? Stock springs? Hard to know spring rates unless you get good previous history or test them yourself.

That rating makes all the difference in how the car will ride - more so than the shocks.

Stock was 200/350 front/rear

My Quella springs are 450/550 on Koni aluminum single adjustable.

Car rides firm, but with the Recaros no one thinks the ride is abusive at all.

Well I put a set of their shocks on my car and was very upset as the car wasn't running yet. The car was like you said 4X4. However after getting the car on the street and driving it a very short distance. The car settled in to the perfect ride height for me. I had rolled it around bounced on it but only driving let it settle in.

Well Bob and I agreed to send the shocks back to him for diagnosis, I sent them yesterday.

I did drive it, maybe only 10 miles, but felt no improvement at all.

The shocks I took off were so dirty and looks like the ones on pictures in Pantera litterature, so I think they were original.

About the spring rates, no idea. When I bought them, I had the perhaps naive view on springs/shocks that I could just put them on and change the setting from "1" to "6" to go from soft to firm. Right now I want to put my old shocks on, but I'll await what Bob's analysis tells me.
I believe I have the same shocks on my red 5S in the link below. It felt kind of boaty recently, so I kicked it up a notch from 3 to 4 with the dial on top and from 7 to 8 with the dial on the bottom (at least that is what I think I went from, as I don't see any marker that the dial number lines up with on the shock). It is definately firmer now. Can anyone describe in laymans terms what the top dial does and what the bottom dial does?
