No, just use a harmonic balencer puller to remove the old one. Grease up the hole in the new balencer, grease under the stock bolt head & washer and pull the assembly on with a wrench. Do not pound it on- the balencer will be destroyed. Use stock bolt torque (don't have it here). Don't polish out the hole for an easier fit- the balencer relies on an interference fit to work. I loosen the front cover so the crank seal self-centers on the balencer seal surface, then after the balencer is in place, I retighten the front cover. Note- all this can be done with the engine in the car, but its easier if the passenger seat is gone- gives more room. Good luck- J DeRyke
