Legal for what? SCCA for instance has strict requirements on roll bars for competition, including wall thickness and access holes for verifying thickness, but they're not the only ones sanctioning motorsports. SCCA likes certified welders building the things, too. If it's SCCA-legal, it will have a yellow inspection sticker, with a date. Street setups bolt in; some classes require at least a 3-point (# of connections to the frame or chassis= 3), which would be a loop near the roof behind you, with a removable diagonal crossbar from the loop to the passenger's footwell. Hall and others sell a 5-point 'cage' that has a second loop in front of the windshield, with connector bars above the side windows. If you're tall, these connectors will interfere with your head or helmet, with stock-position seats. The rear loop limits how far back the seats will go. The diagonal bar restricts passengers to the truly flexible only, but it is removable. Send the kids to bed before trying to assemble one of these puzzles inside your Pantera! I estimate a 5-point cage weighs about 75 lbs and will take a whole Saturday to install. A helper will be needed in a couple of places. Good luck- J DeRyke
