Commonly known as a vehicle identification number, VIN. Modern cars have a 17 digit VIN but ours does not; just 11 digits.

Many but apparently not all cars also had the last four numbers of the VIN stamped into the bottom portion of each headlight bucket.

As the pedal box VIN is stamped into the chassis rather than attached by rivets to the B pillar or the dashboard, that is the one VIN that should be more valid in the event of any dispute

For most casual discussions, owners just drop everything but the last four numbers, as I refer to my car as 2511.

often, when you are asked by a fellow owner  “what’s the VIN of your car”, the answer being sought is just the last four numbers. We can get away with this in Pantera land because of the low production and the short time of production.

IMHO, the term “serial number” is applicable to auto stereos, home electronics, etc. but not vehicles.

Very nice, street legal still or purely race? Where are you located given it's received a RHD conversion?

Reminds me of when I got my '74, the trunk VIN was carpeted over and no windshield VIN tag or B post tag. I panicked for a moment, that might have been when I found this forum.....

Yes it was used in Targa (sealed rally) events for the past 10 years or so and I am making it more 'streetable'. And yes, had a right hand conversion - pretty simple on these cars (I did one back in the mid-1990's).
