In my case, it was the multi-pin plug under the dash right next to the tach. The plug "looked" tight, but was not making complete contact. I just squeased it together as tight as I could get it. Voila! The Tach works again!! Good-Luck with it! Marlin.

When mine stopped a couple of years ago, after total disassembly, an electronics engineer in the Nor-Cal club found a cracked glass resistor on the circuit board inside. He had to use a microscope to see the crack. The fix was to desolder the stocker, find a 1/2% resistor of the same ohm-age and reattach, then reassemble I wrote this up in the POCA newsletter at the time. Saved me $300 replacement cost...
