Jack thanks for the cooling system advice.
Think I,ve finally cracked it.
Made up a funell out of a piece of radiator hose, a hose clip and a used gallon oil container. cut out bottom of container etc and stuffed one end of hose in it and the other in the supply tank added 1/2 gall of water turned on and hey presto the air seems to have bubbled out and no major boiling etc .
Shall repeat tomorrow so fingers crossed.
