Hi everyone, I hope someone here has an answer to my question, while doing a comparison between Michelin and Kumho tires, I noticed a weight difference of 4 lbs per tire between the two for the same rear tire size ( 335/35 ZR17). Kumhos were heavier than Michelins. The weight difference for the fronts was only one pound between the two brands for size 255/40 ZR 17s. If I install these heavier Kumhos at rear, will this have a noticable difference in acceleration and braking as compared to the lighter Michelins?

A quick Googling of "tire weight performance" turned up this chart from a Car and Driver article that tested a series of tire and wheel combinations. Check that bottom row that shows the wheel + tire weights. Consider your average weight penalty is 2.5# per corner, I would say the difference is negligible. You will experience greater variation on performance depending on how much gas is in the tank.
