Hello Fellow Enthusiasts; If you had UNLIMITED FUNDS $$$$$$$...but could only have "1" Sports Car...What would you buy???!!!

I Always knew from a very early age, what "1" car I would want...a 1955 Alloy Bodied 300 SL Gullwing Mercedes...

Very interested in reading of your choices & perhaps the reasoning behind your choices...Mark

If I were to drive only 1 sports car every day as a daily driver, it would absolutely have to have all of the nice things on it -- so for me it would have to be an Aston Martin Vanquish Volante.

If it were a car that I rarely took out and it was bought for more of an investment (I know, sick thought, ish), it would be a 1963 Ferrari GTO. Then again, I would like to get my grubby hands on that fantastic Jaguar prototype the XJ13 -- but I probably wouldn't fit in it anyway so who am I kidding, even if the factory sold their one off prototype.......

There you go.

you could go for the Aston ONE-77...it's unlimited Wink
Have you all gone mad? The answer is of course a perfect Pantera! Only Hustler seems happy owning a Pantera... Wink

Yeah, I know that was not the purpose of the question, but think of it this way, if you only had one car and it was one of the ones shown above, how much would you be able to drive it?

Regards
Mikael, Pantera owner by choice...

Ha! Was surprised it took this long for the obvious answer. Thank you Mikael! If you asked this same question on just about any other automotive forum, Pantera would surely come up as many people's dream car. So I consider myself very fortunate!

But that Alfa Romeo 33 sure is gorgeous! I think just about every car listed would warrant consideration.

nah... everybody is just choosing the most expensive , as a investmend for the future... as if there was a free omnium Insurance and free maintenance Smiler ..or not to drive it !
i'm happy with my Pantera , for me it's the most exiting exotic car affordeble ... Winkbut who knows, the more expensive, the more the driving pleasure ??? I doubt it ! and with all oldtimers, the cat is a pain in the ass to drive, so what do we want more ? Confused Big Grin

You're Completely missing the point!!!....I stated "Unlimited Funds" as in Billionare!!!....so NO investment criteria or thoughts...no Worries about maintenance, insurance, getting into an accident, etc, etc...just PURE DRIVING PLEASURE & EXPERIENCE!!!....and in regards to your comment about " Just picking the most expensive"....I believe in the overall realm of BIG $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ cars, our collective choices have been rather modest...Mark

I don't. the pic showed up on my facebook wall forwarded from a friend. I'll try to find out? any specifics you'd like to know?

Great Idea Larry! I wonder if Josh could do it!
When I started reading this link, I thought back to when I was a kid and the Carabo ranked pretty high on the awesome-looking-car scale, but on page 2 I found that Kirk beat me to it Frowner

Then I thought WHATEVER this guy drives ...

...but even with unlimited funds, my wife would find a way to bankrupt me Frowner

So I'll stick with the Pantera and maybe add a second by grabbing a GT5-S Targa

If it had to be a non-Pantera, then an Auburn Boattail Speedster...

Not quite... I'm not interested in the California Spyder as an investment vehicle - it's actually the reason I'll never own one - it's TOO DAMN valuable! Well, that and I could never afford one anyway.

A couple years ago my wife posed an interesting question right before I headed to Monterey. I own 9 cars (including daily drivers) and 5-6 of them can be considered enthusiast vehicles or toys. Those vehicles alone have a pretty significant total value (IMO). So, she asked me if there's something else nicer that I'd rather have instead - see where she's going with this? She's trying to reduce the stable. The Monterey Historics was a month after she asked me this so I seriously scrutinized just about every other car there for what I'd rather have, or if it's something I'd rather have (within the budget of course), then went on an EXHILARATING Sunday drive with 4 other PCNC members a few weeks later, and determined without a doubt that my 72 pre-L Pantera and my 66 Mustang are unbeatable for pure fun, good looks, style and performance, and overall bang for the buck! Those two will stay in my garage for many years to come! The other cars I may consider parting with - I'd love a replica of the California Spyder, or a 289 FIA Cobra replica, or a GT-40 replica. I just wish she posed this question/proposition when Ron was selling his GT40.

There are few other cars that have piqued my interest, but we'll see. I need to first find a job, then figure out what to do with the other cars.
