Well I did almost every thing. New cooling tubes (what a B^*&^*) Gas tank rotted out, new sender and float and installed new high torque starter from Hall Pantera engine done, (10 quart pan from PI, Edelbrock aluminum heads and polished Air Gap manifold ALL THE GOODIES, BREADED FUEL LINES, NEW HOLLEY 770, Holley fuel pump, any way to the point. Since I went with a crane roller cam I had to change the gear to a bronze and guess what? The wrong gear or is it. I have a MSD Billet 8577 dist for years now and got the gear MSD 8581 recommended by Summit web site for THAT dist. The gear did not fit. too big a diameter. I have got nothing but a run around from MSD and Summit. They have no solutions except where did I get the distributer from? Summit 5 yrs ago. Any way the specs are. The bronze gear has a ID of .531 and the dist shaft has a an OD of .5120. Can I sleeve it? Got a 8+K engine but a $50 dollar part is stopping it from running. There is a annual car show here in Richland WA this weekend and, oh well there is always Vegas. Oh well I just wanted to vent..... There is always a reason for every thing.... right?

My mistake all,

I finally got a tech person at MSD that asked me if I had taken off the original iron gear and measured there. I said nope. I took the gear off and guess what? I had the right bronze gear. The shaft is tapered (larger diameter at the gear). The new gear is on and the engine is in. Just a few things to hook up and it's fire up time......
