That's if my wife wouldn't kill me and I didn't have ten other half finished projects in progress.

I bought the Sonett for the wife for 3 reasons.
1. She has wanted her own car and likes these little cars and I knew I would get a pass on my next car if I did this.
2. She really wanted to drive the Pantera and I thought this would distract her. This was a failure after she got used to driving a standard again it made her want to drive it more.
3. It was skinny enough to fit in the space it’s in now and I can get out of it for what I paid for it and have some fun with it while I own it.

As a Vantage owner I do have to agree with Does200 on the power. The Vantage does look a lot faster than it really is. When I bought the Vantage it wasn't about the speed and power. It was about how the car drove and felt. The interior, the smells, the sound, the materials used all come together to make an amazing experience every time I drive it.

Far as the Aston and its 'speed factor'. There are many measurements of why we get cars, performance a big one, but many contributing factors.

Interestingly, my Viper GTS is maybe the antithesis of the Aston. It'll eat most of what's out there, but is a loud, unsophisticated, a bit crude, and if you're in the mood for that, it's cool. The Aston would not be doing burnouts if I had it, wouldn't need to.

My stuff -

> Pantera '74 - mostly stock, stealth upgrades
> Viper GTS '00- 12k miles, Steel gray, Cognac Connoly leather. Mostly stock. 1 of 55 in that combination.
> Porsche Carrera '86 - Very original, alway cared for. Just sold on ebay.
> Acura NSX - '97, 3.2 'T', 6 speed, Kaiser/black, one of 35.
> Ferrari 512 BBi - '84, Tan Daytona interior, Boxer paint scheme, last 6 months of production.
> Ferrari 512TR - 94, one of final 50 imported, fewer than 10 black/black 94s. A seriously competent machine.

It's been fun seeing what others have collected over the years; sort of a window to one's car "soul." My assortment includes:
1958 Corvette (undergoing complete body off restomod restoration)
1968 Pontiac GTO (undergoing mild restoration as it was already in very nice driver condition, Verduro Green over black. My dream car in high school, it's still more exciting sitting in the driver's seat looking out over that hood with the bulges for the hood tack and the hood scoops without even moving than anything current)
1972 De Tomaso Pantera (the timeless body you could still die for)
1978 Datsun 280z 5sp. (owned since new, sat in my garage undriven for 20 years from 1985-2005), before I restored it to beautiful driver several years ago. If only our Panteras had the leg room of this car)
1978 Datsun 280z automatic (bought it and restored it for my son for high school and college, currently sitting and awaiting a second restoration)
2002 Jaguar XKR convertible (bought 2 years ago for next to nothing for an essintially mint condition car and now my daily driver, future classic, sensationally sexy, typical English electronics)
2004 Chrysler Pacific (semi-retired after nearly 200,000 miles, the best, most reliable, and comfortable automobile I have ever owned)
2008 Buick Enclave (formerly my daily driver, what a pile of crap, gave it to my wife to drive, I couldn't stand it anymore, transmission from hell.)
And for the one of you who has the Ferrari 512bbi, my late very close friend once hid his black one in my garage for two years back in the 80's to keep his ex-wife from getting hold of it. Always thought it was the nicest of his 3 Ferraris-Testarossa, 512, Maranello.

Wow, congrats! I love it! We've got 9000 miles on ours now and it's been fantastic, no problems. I've taken it on lots of long trips so I dip into the dino-fuel pretty often. The car's lifetime average is still 80mpg though, so I can't complain. Smiler

Plus the extreme contrast makes driving the Pantera on the weekend even more special.

That's a great pair right there! Both can definitely get it done. Do you still own the Camaro?

We sure do! It is my wife's "dream car". I had to finish that car before I could purchase the Pantera. I think it gets more attention than the Pantera too!!

I applaud your effort to save on fossil fuels, leaves more for the rest of us

It actually doesn't since we use our fair share in our 2500HD Diesel Truck, our Diesel Motor Home, our Pantera, and our 69 El Camino!!! Smiler

The worst thing about owning and electric vehicle is that all of a sudden people think you are an earth person. We definitely are not, it was simply an economical thing. My wife now commutes to work for no gas cost! Saves about $400.00 per month!

Just out of curiosity, what do you think the electricity cost is a month?

There are a lot of factors that influence what your electric costs would be BUT, if you pick the right electric plan and charge at the right times, etc... the cost is about $1.50 per night.

For us, that equals $1.50 for 40 miles of travel. At $4.00 per gallon of fuel on our truck the savings is around $10.00 per day... That's around $200.00 savings per month for us for just the work commute...
