I think a wing looks best on a GT5 Pantera. I wouldn't have a GT5 without one.

A wing looks good on some stock bodied Panteras too, but I think the stock body lines speak for themselves.

A GT5-S with stock wheels looks better with a wing. I feel a GT5-S with larger diameter wheels has the wheel volume to support the breadth of the flares, so a wing isn't needed, but would look ok.

My bottom line is I feel the delta wing dates a Pantera. On the 'sharp' line Panteras (L, GTS, GT5), that's just fine because these Panteras captured the timeless look of their period.

To me, the GT5-S shows it's age with a delta wing. Alot of people can't believe my 5-S is 20 years old, they think it's only a few years old. With the wing on it, it screams 80's!

How about just a low wing? I would like to see it in a wind tunnel. I did put liquid soap droplets on the rear wing, and drove at speed. The results were long runs in the soap trail. This should indicate smooth air flow. Turbulance would haved caused curved trails. You reckon?

You bet. At the speed we drive our cars on the street, all the wings do is cause drag.
But they do make a nice table to have lunch on when out for a country drive.
I have considered mounting mine so it's removable and being able to just insert plugs into the holes when it's off.

That's another point. The vision is not all the great to begin with. Without the wing, I find that looking out the rear view mirror opens pretty much everything rear view wise, the side mirrors covering any blind spots.
But I would like to have the option to bolt it on once in awhile....
Have one sitting in my garage, just haven't put it on.

Coz,

The table-like feature is great for the wing! The wing did obscure my rearward vision. It made the rearview mirror pretty much useless for me.
Mark - Thanks for opening up this can of worms! Smiler

Personally -- I could care less what people think I should do, or not do, with my car, even if he's that famous guy that wears a white robe in public.

But as far as I'm concerned, the wing IS a factory option...albeit, in later years..so I see no problem with having one on any style Pantera. Though, I think it fits perfectly with the "later look".

Wings and gold chains. Unavailability of a slushbox weeds out a lot of these folks, not all.

Whips/chains is something the sexually unemployed dream about.

But then I did say everyone has a right to shame themselves in public.

Yeah, my speedo goes to 300!! They about cream their jeans on that one. They don't bother to see KPH.

I will Mike, when I start working on my car, which is now winter instead of fall, I will take pics as I work on it. I plan to do a how to seriers on worthless information. Big Grin
Having a wing gives you somewhere to put your stuff while you work on the car. Keys, tools, cans, rags. It's great. I never did the picnic thing, Coz but it sounds like a great idea. But where do you put the food to bring it?

However, I often enjoy blasting along on the highway, wind whipping in my face, without a care in the world - well, actually, I take that back. I really mean, when my fingers are almost white, my breathing fast, when I can barely take my eyes off the road to look at the tach or speedo and I am caring a lot about some radar-toting guy maybe hiding down the road - and the faster I go, the flatter it gets. Lower and lower, 'till I can almost feel my speedo cable converter tapping the pavement every time I cross an expansion joint, as that big fat wing forces you down, down, down and every little crack in the road reverberates up your spine.

Yeah. I love the wing.
I have struggled with this myself. My current train of thought is that the wings look best when they are accompanied by fat fender flares. Though I am still not sure if I would do it, even if I had fatty fenders. But on a stock bodied Pantera, the wing looks a little too big and bulky.

But... then I can remember when I was a kid looking at Panteras, and they absolutely had to have a wing to be real cool!

The kid in me wants to have a wing now! The adult in me wants to keep the lines clean. Heheheheh

You choose. I don't think you can go wrong.
