For Sale: ZF Dash 2 out of a 1974 Pantera. I'm not a ZF expert, so this is what I do know about it:
It was taken out of a front end wreck Pantera with 40,000 miles on the odometer. The damage to the car was limited to the front of the car, everything rear of the front clip was in great shape. The car was undrivable but was moved under its own power out of the garage to be towed.
The previous owner took meticulous care of the car and had service records which showed it. All fluids were changed twice a year. He related that the trans was functioning perfectly prior to the accident.
I opened the case to add new ring gear bolts and safety wire. All looked clean, no obvious signs of wear or damage, no metal in the oil or on the magnetic drain plug, no cracks to the case. It was sealed, the rear and side plates painted and was never run. My plan was to store it as a spare but I have decided to sell it to finance another venture.
This trans is being sold as is. As I said, I am not a ZF expert and the above information is all that I can provide on its condition. Buyer is responsible for crating and shipping charges but I will assist in any way I can. Asking $4500, if not sold in a week it will go on EBay. Contact me at dyogi@hawaii.rr.com if interested.
