180's / 8 to 1 collector ?

Has anyone ever seen an exhaust system that uses an 8 to 1 collector? I have seen this on some V8 Chev powered race buggies, sounded tuff. Any thoughts about an 8 into 1 collector ?

The Pantera is a race car belonging to Bjorn Carapi of Sweden (as of 1998).
The motor is built upon an aluminum Keith Black block (big block Chevy), displaces 509 cubic inches, produces 750 bhp.
You'll find the story in issue 97 of Pantera International.
