This event was in conjunction with the FIAT (Fun Italian Automobiles of Tucson) Club. We had a good turnout - and more of the wives!
Participating were:
- Jack and Ruth - NEW '74 L Model (~19K on the clock - VERY Stock Looking)
- Chuck and Linda - '73 L Model
- Dave C. - '72 Ferrari 365 GTB (Daytona)
- Dave and Shellie - Fiat 2000 (124 Spyder)
We also met up with Tom and Linda Bosworth (Tom races a very tricked out Pantera - Track only - there are pictures in the slideshow), and Ron & Shirley in their '78 Fiat 124 Spider. We met up with these two couples at a rest stop in Sonoita - it was good to connect. The maroon car in the slideshow is Tom's car.
Our first stop was "Hops and Vines", where we sprung for the glasses that held us in good stead for the remainder of the trip. This was a very relaxed venue - good wine and a very casual atmosphere.
Our next stop (and probably the nicest spot) was Lightning Ridge Winery. This was very nice inside, and then after our "tasting" we went outside to the Bocce court, and enjoyed our picnic lunch. LOTS of good food, hor d' ovreus (horses ovaries?), and nice conversation in a pleasant setting.
Finally (with lots of good driving between stops), our final location was Wilhem Family Vineyards. By far the most crowded (they had offered a GROUPON that lots of visitors were cashing in on), service was a little sketchy, but we scored a nice picnic bench in the shade of their porch, and made the very best of it.
Only one minor inconvenience to speak of, a stall, that allowed us to evaluate Jack's accelerator pump and carb function, and his "sparkage". Both were good, therefore we concluded we had what it takes to make his motor run, and sure and begorrah, we did. That baby fired right off, and we were back on our way.
Here's a really cool picture my wife took, and the slideshow is linked here as well.
