I would tell you it depends. If you plan on running higher RPM, which the stroker will do, then don't worry about them. But, they make excelent intake gaskets and are reusable. I just use a big bead of RTV blue on the front and rear of the block. then I RTV the plate to the head. When I pull the intake off, the port plates stay there. The exhaust plates are a lot of work to install, and you still need a gasket. But, they show the most improvement in airflow. I would give up trying to make low end torque with these heads, which you may be trying to do. Spin them up to higher rpm, and let your gearing handle the torque. Make sure you have enough cam to take advantage of the excellent flow. Stock heads flow 267 CFM at .600 on the intake and 170 on the exhaust. With port plates they flow 267/176
