1BE8094D-674D-49FE-9B15-31E69ADBC1A7I am upgrading my brakes to a big brake kit which requires deleting the proportioning valve. I am also replacing the existing lines with a set of SS lines. Rather than replace the valve with a T fitting I wanted to gut the valve to retain a stock appearance under the hood. When I tried to connect the new lines to the gutted valve the fittings from the brake lines would not fit the valve. I know there are two proportioning valves used on the Pantera. Did they use different fittings?

I have a 72 and assumed I had 72 lines but when I look at Pantera Place my valve appears to be a 71 (brass footing) Thoughts?

Just food for thought. If you install stainless steel brake lines you have already veered away from the stock appearance. Granted, most will not know the difference. In that same line of reasoning, if you just delete the proportioning valve completely, do not replace it with a T fitting, and replumb the brake lines no one will know the proportioning valve is missing.

Larry's Carson City Pantera Parts Connection not only has premade stainless lines, he has 'pre-gutted' proportioning valves in stock- both early and late type.

Note that with bundyweld (stock U.S welded-seam lines), double flares are essential. With stainless lines, they are made seamless and need no double flare. In fact, attempting a double flare may crack a stainless line.
