Clutch MC too short | The De Tomaso Forums

Good Afternoon,

I just received my new clutch MC from Wilkerson, part # 005-02B. I have an early 72 pre-L car.

I noticed the trunk side lines up as it should, but the rod on the pedal side is at least 1.5" shorter than the original assembly. Even if I take the longer fork from my original unit and put on the new part it seems the pedal travel will be too short.

I measure about 2.125 inches of travel best case with the fork screwed all the way out.

I assume this is the wrong part?

It appears that he sent you one for use with the effort reduction kit. Just remove the rod from your old one and install it on the new one.

Thank You, I will check this again to see if the original rod will swap over. When I looked at it yesterday the locking mechanism was a bit more complicated than the C clip that is in the new part.

You can also use a coupling nut and threaded rod (sawed off bolt) to extend the rod.
